Honey Lemon Ginger Tea

Honey Lemon Ginger Tea

Feeling Under the Weather?

Load up on some honey lemon ginger tea. It’s one of our favourite ways to use a spoonful of raw honey, and it takes about five minutes to make. What’s your own tip for fighting off a cold?

Ingredients

Juice of 1 medium or half a large lemon
2 tbsp Bizzy Beehive raw honey (we like Orange Blossom for this one)
½ tsp freshly grated ginger
Optional: ½ tsp fresh (or ¼ tsp ground) turmeric
235ml hot water
A pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

Put all the ingredients in a mug and stir well. Let it stand for five minutes so the flavours steep properly. Drink it right away, or store it in a jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. To reheat, warm it in a pan on the stove, or microwave it for 60 seconds.

Because raw honey hasn’t been heated or pasteurised, it keeps its natural enzymes — worth knowing if you’d rather stir it into warm water than boiling. If you’d like to read more about ginger’s own reputation as a cold remedy, Wikipedia has a good overview.
